The New Forest Livestock Society (NFLS) was formed in 2001 under the Chairmanship of Mr John Burry, ex official Verderer of the New Forest Verderers. Four directors and eight committee members were selected from commoners who exercised common rights to organise and manage the pony sales at Beaulieu Road. Since then the Society has gone from strength to strength electing committee members who bring a wealth of knowledge to the Society.
The NFLS is a company limited by guarantee, we work closely with our partners the New Forest Trust (NFT) and the Forestry Commission (FC) to ensure Beaulieu Road remains a central part of the New Forest Commoners heritage.
A 25-year lease has been granted to the NFLS and in association with Southern Counties Auctioneers, we now run the sale yard. We provide a minimum of four sales per year, on behalf of the Commoners of the New Forest. We keep a maintenance schedule in place, and on sale days provide stewards for the sales.
The sale yard has long been recognised as one of the safest and most efficient sale yards for semi-feral stock in the country, being constructed throughout with timber and having earth and gravel floors. The continued maintenance of the premises is a major priority of the Society to ensure it remains in optimum condition and our health and safety standards are maintained.
The sales usually take place May, September, October and November. Please see sale dates tab for exact dates.
